The Polycom Viewstation versus the Polycom VSX
Let's compare the classic Polycom Viewstation series to the new Polycom VSX series. We all know the Polycom Viewstation is the most popular product line in the world, but does the new Polycom VSX series live up to it's predecessor.
The Polycom Viewstation series of products started capturing the market back in 1998. It entered the market at a time when picturetel was dominating the worldwide videoconferencing market and Vtel and Sony where trying to gain a littlemarketshare. The first viewstation was the 128 and had a list price of $5995. The comapring picturetel products where all more than double that and the flagship concorde could run into the $30,000 range.
I need H.264 support
I have been considering using the Polycom Viewstation or Polycom VSX in the small conference room enviroment. The main thing I like about the Polycom VSX is the built in H.264 support. I know the Polycom Viewstation FX can support H.264 as well. The only thing I don't like about the VSX 7000 is the required subwoofer.
