Question #1 What maximum video resolutions are available with a Polycom HDX 8000 system?
Answer: A Polycom HDX 8000 series system supports up to 720p60 and 1080p30.

Question #2 What is 720p60 resolution?  
Answer: 720p60 (60 frames per second) offers the highest motion resolution possible. Progressive scanning reduces the need to prevent flicker by filtering out the fine details, so sharpness is much closer to 1080i than the number of scan lines would suggest.

Question #3 Which Polycom HDX 8000 system supports 720p60?  
Answer: The entire Polycom HDX 8000 series with "Rev B" hardware supports 720p60.

Question #4 Which Polycom HDX 8000 system supports 1080p?
Answer: All Polycom HDX 8000 series "Rev B" hardware systems support 1080p with a 1080i source connected to the codec.

Question #5 What call speeds are needed to achieve different video resolutions with the Polycom HDX 8000 series?
Answer: 4C/SIF30 from 128 kbps; 4C/SIF60 from 512 kbps; 720p30 – from 512 kbps; 720p60 – from 832 kbps; 1080p – from 1024 kbps.

Question #6 What Polycom software revision (rev) is needed to achieve the highest video resolutions at the lowest call speeds?
Answer: The minimum software revision is Polycom HDX 2.6.

Question #7 What Polycom HDX camera settings are needed to achieve 720p60 and 1080p?
Answer: With the Polycom HDX 1080p camera - set the device to Sharpness; with the Polycom HDX 720p60 camera – set it to Motion.

Question #8 How many camera inputs does the Polycom HDX 8000 series support?
Answer: Four total camera inputs (two HDCI, one DVI-I, and one S-Video).

Question #9 Will the Component video input support devices like a Blu-ray player?
Answer: Yes. A user can utilize the included HDCI to Component break-out cable. If audio is needed, audio may be connected through the AUX Audio input.

Question #10 How many displays does a Polycom HDX 8000 support?
Answer: Three total displays are supported: two DVI-I, and one S-Video.

Question #11 How many microphone arrays does a Polycom HDX 8000 support?
Answer: A total of three HDX microphone arrays are supported. This includes a combination of ceiling mics, table top and a Polycom SoundStation IP 7000 conference phone.

Question #12 Does the Polycom HDX 8000 support ISDN/V.35/PRI?
Answer: Yes, the Polycom HDX 8000 supports these through the optional network adapters.

 

Question #13 What models are available with the Polycom HDX 8000 series?
Answer: The Polycom HDX 8002 and Polycom HDX 8004 (up to 720p60 capability standard) and the Polycom HDX 8006 (up to 1080p30 capability standard).

Question #14 Does the Polycom HDX 8000 People+Content (H.239) feature support High Definition?
Answer: The entire Polycom HDX Series uses H.239 People+Content. When using a minimum of 1024 kbps bandwidth, both people and content will be displayed in high definition.

Question #15 How do you share content with the Polycom HDX 8000?
Answer: The Polycom HDX 8000 can share content by using Polycom People+Content, People on Content and People+Content IP software solutions.

Question #16 Does People+Content (H.239) run at a full frame rate with the Polycom HDX 8000 series?
Answer: Yes, People video can run at 1080p30 or 720p60 and Content video can transmit up to 720p30.

Question #17 What PC resolutions does a Polycom HDX 8000 support for H.239 and People+Content?
Answer: The Polycom HDX 8000 series supports resolutions up to 1680x1050.

Answer: A MultiPoint Plus 4-way option is available, which makes the Polycom HDX 8000 series capable of High Definition Continuous Presence.

Question #19 Does a Polycom HDX 8000 support API commands and serial control?
Answer: Yes. The Integrator’s Reference Manual for the HDX Series documents over 200 supported commands designed to enable flexibility and customization in integrated rooms. These commands are accepted either through a Telnet interface or via an IR interface.

Question #20 Does the Polycom HDX 8000 integrate with Microsoft OCS?
Answer: Yes. The Polycom HDX video system can register to the server and have similar functionality as an OCS client - from directory to one-touch dialing.

Question #21 Does the Polycom HDX 8000 support Dual Monitor Emulation (DME)?
Answer: Yes, the Polycom HDX 8000 supports DME. However, when in a call and sharing content, the Polycom HDX will only display far-end video and content Near-end video will not be displayed.

Question #22 What is Live Music Mode on the Polycom HDX 8000 series?
Answer: This feature, when enabled, transmits audio using a configuration that reproduces live music picked up by microphones more faithfully. For example, noise suppression and automatic gain control are disabled when this setting is enabled.

Answer: When used with a Polycom EagleEye camera, the main camera cable with the Polycom HDX 8000 can be extended 250 feet using an analog component HDCI pin out.

If a second Polycom EagleEye camera is used, an optional power supply must be used.
